Literature Text

Name: Rose Cosette Weasley

Age: 11

Date of Birth: 21st September 2005

Blood Status: Half-blood

Wand: Aspen and Dragon Heartstring, eleven inches, very sturdy.

Patronus: Cascade Mountain Wolf

Boggart: Inferi

Animagus: Cascade Mountain Wolf

Physical Appearance: Rose is rather pretty. As she's still young, she's still at the stage where people consider her cute, but she knows that as she grows up, she'll go from being 'cute' to being 'beautiful'. She has warm red hair in deep curls falling to her shoulder-blades. It's not bushy, like her mothers, but quite close. Her skin is softly tanned, which makes her freckles stand out in dark contrast to her skin. Her eyes are a soft, chocolate brown, with flecks of gold in them.

Personality: Rose is naturally curious and mischievous. Ever since she was little, she's been sneaking around behind her parents back; stealing snacks and cookies, reading books she wasn't allowed to, watching movies her mum said weren't 'age appropriate'. She has a competitive spirit, and this, combined with her intelligence and her willingness to manipulate people makes her a very successful girl. She's always known exactly what she wants and nothing will stop her getting it. Something she treasures above all, however, is her family, and she knows that someday, she wants to have one of her own.

Character Background: Rose grew up in a reasonably sized house on the outskirts of Oxford. It was originally a muggle house, but the inside was magically reassembled to be much more homely than the neat, orderly, identical rooms that had been there before. Her mother, Hermione, is the Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, while her father is currently Head of the Auror department. She also has a younger brother, called Hugo, whom she adores and somewhat smothers.

Roleplay Sample:

Rose Weasley was not used to being nervous. Usually, she was the height of confidence, and she rarely experienced that 'butterfly' feeling in her stomach that Albus seemed to complain of so often. As they were led across the entrance hall towards the open doors leading to the Great Hall, she wracked her brains trying to remember the last time she'd felt the fluttering, swooping sensation in her stomach that indicated nerves. It didn't take her long to remember that it was the day her brother was born, when she'd been four.

Seven and a half years later, the butterflies were back. It was so silly, she thought, that she should get nervous over something like putting a hat on her head and walking to whichever table it told her to sit at. However, she knew it was much more than that.

The real crux of the matter was that she knew that she wasn't going to be in Gryffindor. She might appear brave to the people around her, but she knew it was only because she went to great lengths to avoid the things that scared her. If that wasn't cowardice, she didn't know what was.

As they were led through the doorway, Rose tried to push the issue from her mind to get a good look at the Great Hall. It was just as big as everyone said it was, and the enchanted ceiling was absolutely fascinating, but despite her best efforts, it was the Sorting Hat that drew her eye. Ripped and fraying, it looked just as old as legend said it was, and it was certainly not something Rose wanted to put on her head.

She dragged her eyes away from the hat and they landed on her Uncle Harry, who smiled at her. The butterflies in her stomach quieted a little. It was reassuring to know that she wouldn't loose all of her family if she weren't sorted into Gryffindor. Of course, she knew her father had been joking when he'd said he'd disown her if she wasn't in Gryffindor, but he'd said it for a reason, and she couldn't help but wonder if there was a little bit of truth in his words.

Finally, they drew to a halt in front of the Sorting Hat, and Rose glanced at Albus, hoping for some sort of reassurance that he, too, wouldn't care what house she was in. Albus, however, was staring at his toes, looking as if he were about to be sick. She watched him all through the Sorting Hat's song, just in case he raised his eyes, but he didn't. As the Hat sung about Slytherin, she saw Albus wince, and wondered why he was so scared of ending up there. It wasn't going to happen. He had less Slytherin traits than most of the family. It was silly to be afraid of something that wasn't going to happen.

As per her prediction, Albus was sorted, not into Slytherin, but into Hufflepuff. She saw Uncle Harry clapping happily along with the rest of the staff and students, and she managed a tremulous smile. Yes, she'd be alright.

Her name was called, and the butterflies returned, with friends, friends of friends, and their next-door neighbour's cousin's best friend's little sister's boyfriend. Swallowing hard, she walked the few short steps to the stool and sat down, clutching the edge of the stool in her hands.

'Very family oriented, aren't you?'

Rose startled and her bum actually parted company with the stool for a few seconds. 'Y-yes.' She thought, nodding shakily.

'That is a rather Gryffindor trait, mind you.' The Hat told her, and she couldn't help the hope that swelled inside her. 'But I don't think you'd be happy in that house.'

'But if I'm not-!' Rose thought desperately.

'My dear, I am here to put you in the house that will make your seven years at this school comfortable, the house where you will make the best friends, the house that suits you best. Not the house your father thinks you ought to be in.'

'But Gryffindor will make me most comfortable!' Rose insisted.

'Tch. You want to be surrounded by those "arrogant, boorish, thick-headed, insensitive, childish prats" for the next seven years?' The Hat asked pointedly, quoting Rose herself. She'd never said the words aloud, but after watching the way some of her older cousins acted with their friends, she had thought it.

'…No…'

'Well then.' The Hat snapped. Rose could tell that it didn't much like people arguing with it over what house they'd suit. 'Of course I don't. Who has more experience here, you or me?' Rose rolled her eyes, the answer to that was obvious. 'Precisely, so why people always try to argue with me, I'll never know. Now! Where to put you… Hufflepuff would be a disaster. You wouldn't get on very well in there. That leaves Ravenclaw and Slytherin. You do have a very sharp mind, but I also see a rather cunning side of you, too.'

At this point, Rose wasn't really listening to the Hat anymore. She was fighting off the urge to cry. She was not going to burst into tears in front of the entirety of Hogwarts, student and staff alike. It would be a disaster. She wrestled with her emotions, forcing the fear and misery back and settling into her familiar comfort zone of planning. She made plans of what she would do if she was disowned, how she would cope, where she would live.

While Rose was making her morbid plans, the Hat continued to waver between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, debating and musing for a full seven minutes while the Great Hall waited with bated breath. 'That settles it.' The Hat's abrupt declaration in her mind snapped Rose out of her thoughts, and she mentally inquired if the Hat was done yet. 'Impatient, a little morbid, a quite a bit ruthless… I'm going to have to put you in-' Rose's stomach dropped.

"-SLYTHERIN!"

Rose Weasley's Profile

Ah, here's the last one. Finally. I'm sorry this one took so long to get up. I got distracted y my One Piece next gen. ^^"

Rose's animagus form was, I think, the esiest to settle on. She's something of a loner, but fiercely protective and loving of her family, with a strong indipendant streak and a strong personality. She was never going to be anything other than a wolf. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Cascade Mountain Wolves are extinct in the wild. I'm not sure if it's true, but if they are, I think it makes Rose's animagus form fit even better.

Her patronus is her own animagus form because, like most indipendant people, she feels most confident and safe when she, herself, is in control

This is the last profile I'm going to upload for HPNG until I can get my brain to focus on HP again and finish the minor profiles. This could take a very long time, so don't hold your breath.

Like always, whatever you have to say, even if it's only one word, I'd very much like to hear (read) it.
